Dr. James Mckeehan Anderson

Dr.James McKeehan Anderson, 88, of Monroe, died Saturday, October 29, 2005, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Cedarville, Ohio on December 12, 1916 to parents Leo and Martha B. (Knott) Anderson.

Dr. Anderson was a graduate of The Ohio State Medical School and started his practice in Monroe in 1948, retiring in 1981. He served his country in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church, where he served as a church elder, was Resident Representive to O.P.R.S. in Columbus, and was chairman of the first committee to bring Young Life to Monroe. He was also a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge since 1937, Monroe Lions Club since 1948, the Ramblers Club, and Ohio State and Butler County Medical Societies. Dr. Anderson had been president of the Monroe Historical Society, and was Mt. Pleasant´s coordinator of the Ambassadors Club.

Dr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha (Moore) Anderson; four sons, James M. Anderson II of Honolulu, HI, Rick M. Anderson of Grand Junction, CO, Michael C. (Vicki) Fleming of Middletown, and David K. Anderson of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Ellen Anderson Smith of Broomfield, CO; three sisters, Dorothy (Rev. Andy) Lowry of Lake Geneva, WI, Martha (Lloyd) Benham of Pitchin, OH, and Margaret J. (Doug) Mesloh of Tulsa, OK; and six grandchildren, Alissa Anderson Marisch, Megan (Mike) Fleming Moyer, Michele Fleming, Drew A. Smith, Matthew A. Smith, and Ryan W. Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Monroe Presbyterian Church, 57 W. Elm, with Reverend Patrick Warren officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, prior to the service, from 10-11 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to James M. Anderson, M.D. & Bertha M. Anderson Scholarship Fund, c/o Monroe Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 56, Monroe, OH 45050-0056. This scholarship fund is for Monroe graduates interested in the field of medicine.
