Dr. Marvin E. Max

Dr. Marvin E. Max, 80, of Middletown, died Friday, August 22, 2008, at Atrium Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Jenkins, Kentucky on January 30, 1928 to parents Jack and Alina (Kiuru) Max.

He served his country in the Army Air Corps in the Canal Zone during World War II, followed by five years employment with General Electric in the Jet Engine Division. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and of Bowman Grey School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 1962 he established his medical practice in Middletown, retiring in 1990 after serving the community as a Family Practitioner for 28 years. Dr. Max was on staff at Middletown Regional Hospital and was a member of AMA, OSMA, Butler County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Family Practitioners.

Dr. Max is survived by his wife, Virginia (Page) Max; daughter, Anita Allyn Max; granddaughter, Leeanna Gabriella Max-Spence; sister, Janey Runge Townsend; brother and sister-in-law, Dr.Ernest B. Page II and Dr. Nina Mussellman Page; his canine companions, Little Bit and Big Boy; as well as many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marvin Max was a strong supporter of the Middletown Symphony and winner of the 1985-1986 Conductor's Auction; was an avid boater and "seaman"; and was noted for his zest for life and humor.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10:30 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with David Runge, nephew of the deceased, officiating.
