E. Gertrude Wilch, 100, formerly of Middletown, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe. She was born July 15, 1901 in Emlenton, Pennsylvania to parents James H. and Isadora (Breitigam) Winslow. She married Marion Paul Wilch, Sr. on June 26, 1922 in Lima, Ohio. They moved to Middletown in 1923 and lived here until Mr. Wilch passed away in 1985 and Mrs. Wilch moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1987. Gertrude was a homemaker and dedicated herself to her family. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a member of the Suburban Club and Jolly Eight card clubs for many years. She was well known for her beautiful hand-crocheted tablecloths. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and a sister Lillian Hiestand. She is survived by two sons Paul (Norma) Wilch, Jr. and Walter "Joe" (JoHanna) Wilch; four grandchildren Timothy (Karen) Wilch, Michael Wilch, Elizabeth Wilch, and JoAnne (Greg) Bachman; three great grandchildren Alexandra Wilch, and Sarah & Katie Bachman;and several nieces and nephews.
