Edward C. Tipton, 80 of Middletown died on Saturday April 30, 2011 at Butler-Warren Hospice. He was born in Magoffin, Ky. on July 4, 1930 to parents Warren and Sarah (Ferguson) Tipton.
Mr. Tipton worked for ARMCO in the Hot Strip Maintenance Dept. and he retired in 1990 after 31 years. He was a member of Lincoln Lodge # 693 F&AM, the Dial Radio Club, an amateur radio operator with call sign WB8ED, an ARMY Veteran of the Korean War, Moose Lodge # 501, Eagles Aerie # 528, VFW post # 3809.
Ed is survived by his wife; Nora M. Tipton, two daughters; Sherry (Jim) Hackney, Dianna (Glenn) Kersnick, one son; Gregory (Cindy) Tipton, one sister; Jayetta (Simpson) Clemons, three brothers; Walter Tipton, Ray (Faye) Tipton, and Marvin (Pauline) Tipton. Four grandchildren; Stacy Hobson, Heather Nolan, Tonya Rutherford, and Christopher Tipton; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Melvin Tipton.
Funeral services Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr. Pastor Ed Bastien officiating. Visitation Tuesday from 5:00PM TO 8:00PM at the funeral home. Lincoln Lodge #693 F&AM services at 7:30PM. Interment at Woodside Cemetery.
