Edward "Bonnie" Trent, aged 97, passed away peacefully June 18, 2011. Bonnie was born June 10, 1914 in Campton, Kentucky to John Logan and Pearl (Klaber) Trent. He moved at an early age to Franklin, Ohio. He went through grade school there and graduated from Franklin High School. Bonnie went to work for Armco Steel Corporation after high school. He attended night school at the University of Cincinnati and took many business and manufacturing training classes at Armco. He performed numerous jobs while at Armco, his final one being the Manager of Manufacturing Operations for the International Division. Bonnie was involved with many company activities at Armco including Employee Representative, member of the Foreman's Club at Fabricating Division, Instructor of many training classes and three years as Director and President of the Armco Hot Dip Galvanizing Association.
Civic activities included Director and President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Middletown, serving nine years as a Big Brother, Teacher of reading for the local literacy program and volunteer at Middletown Hospital and Meals On Wheels.
Bonnie was an avid golfer and belonged to a variety of courses over his lifetime, including Forest Hills Country Club, Wildwood, Shaker Run and Jamaica Golf Clubs.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Hilda A. Trent, son Timothy E. Trent of Middletown, daughter Susan E. Trent and son-in-law Vince Martinez of Waimanalo, Hawaii, grandsons Nicholas Kinser of Sterling, Virginia and Timothy A. Trent of Santa Cruz, California, brothers Chester Trent of Middletown and Richard Graham (Neva) of Westchester. He was preceded in death by this parents, sister Nell Whitaker and sister-in-law Mary Trent.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church, Fr. John Civille celebrant. No Visitation. Interment at Woodside Cemetery.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made in Bonnie's name to the Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption (525 Metro Place, North, Suite 220, Dublin, Ohio, 43017) or the Safe Haven Farms, an organization offering services for individuals on the autism spectrum (Safe Haven Farms, attn: Peter Jezek, P.O. Box 9351, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45209).
