Eileen D. Stamper went to be with the Lord as she slept, on June 18, 2004, at her residence. She was born on January 20, 1920, to Leah and Nicholas Stamper in Metamora, Indiana.
At 18 months, she contracted infantile paralysis and the family moved to Miamisburg, than to Detroit, Michigan, to obtain Medical Care. She attended Oakman School and graduated from Redford High School.
She moved to Middletown and was employed in the time office at ARMCO Steel. Returning to Michigan, she worked at Robitron until her retirement in 1983.
She has been a resident of Middletown for the past 15 years. Nurtured by loving parents, she grew to be a strong, courageous woman, overcoming the stigma of polio. Although she had no children of her own, she was a “listening ear” and friend to her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Robert, Chester, and an infant Roger, sisters: Erma Stamper, Thelma Brooks, and Fern Sparks. She is survived by a brother Kenneth (Jackie) Stamper of Lexington and sisters Yvonne Gibbs and Frances Cogan of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews.
