Emma Louise Knell, 103, of Middletown, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Middletown on February 3, 1900, to parents Alexander and Mary (Conley) Maclean.
Emma was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1917. She worked as a secretary for Lorenz Publishing Company and enjoyed her work there. She also enjoyed reading and writing letters.
Emma is survived by her son Donald Knell of Middletown; nephews Charles Maclean, Jr. of Franklin, Ronald Maclean of Dayton, OH, and Douglas Maclean of Union Town, OH; niece Nancy Maclean Snowden of Mesa, Arizona; numerous grand nieces and grand nephews; and many cousins in Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell T. Knell in 1947; her parents; eight brothers, Charles, Sr., Alexander, Jr., Samuel, Albert, Dugold, John, Robert, and Russell; five sisters, Ellen M., Mary E., Ellen, Ruth, and Annie; and nieces and nephews, Virginia Maclean Tesmer, Betty Maclean Lewber, Patricia Ann Maclean, William Maclean, Kenneth Maclean, and Richard "Dick" Maclean.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 17, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Woodland Cemetery Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, OH 45409. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the Chapel. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements by Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home.
