Ernest Gene Vitori, 85, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. He was born in Middletown on September 26, 1928 to parents James V. and Mary (Polisini) Vitori.
Mr. Vitori was the owner of Shaddock's Market & Shaddock's Famous Pizza for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a combat medic, earning the combat medic badge & four battle stars. He was a member of the VFW #3809, American Legion Post 218, DAV #131, the Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Vitori is survived by his children, Julie, Joni & Jeff Vitori; sisters, Josephine (Pete) Fisher, Caroline Kipus & Gerry (Danny) O'Neil; 5 granddaughters, Erica, Leslie, Elizabeth, Emily & Courtney; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Vitori; son, James V. Vitori; parents; and one sister, Louise Dennis.
A Prayer Service will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 - 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
