Esther Cecilia Allen, 90, of Trenton, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at home. She was born in Kyles, Ohio on October 1, 1918 to parents Albert and Anna (Obermeyer) Paul.
After graduation from high school, Mrs. Allen worked at Murphy's and later at Crystal Tissue, where she advanced to forelady. Mrs. Allen was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She played Auction Bridge all her life. She was very active with the 82nd Airborne Ladies Auxiliary, helping plan many 82nd Airborne State Conventions. She delighted in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Lois) Allen of Middletown and Jim Allen of Albany, NY; daughter, Karen Allen (Edward Becker) of Cleveland Heights, OH; six grandchildren, Angela (Randy) Taylor, Kevin (Teresa Phillips) Allen; Kermit (fiancee Rachael) Allen; Molly (Andy) Rowe; Anna Becker; Eric Becker; five great grandchildren, Oscar & Samuel Allen, Alison & Nathan Taylor, Brendon Rowe and Rowe Twins (on the way).
Esther was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Allen; Son, Kermit Allen; brothers, Leo Paul, Clarence Paul, Edward "Bud" Paul; sisters, Irene Paul, Loretta Ritter, Ruth Comstock, Hilda Bellaw, Mary Hazelwood.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 222 Hamilton Ave., Trenton with Father George Klein as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Holy Name Cemetery.
