Esther Ristaneo, 88, of Middletown, Ohio, died on Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 23, 1915, the eldest daughter of Frank V. and Katie (Rizzo) Milillo.
Esther attended St. Mary Catholic School and Notre Dame Academy in Hamilton. She married Carl Ristaneo of Middletown, in St. Mary´s Catholic Church on June 6, 1934. After moving to Middletown, Esther became a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and sang in the choir, and was active in the church and community. She belonged to the C.L.C. and was a charter member of the Grandmother´s International, Middletown Chapter. She served as president, vice president, secretary, ways and means, and chaired many card parties as a way to raise funds for their worthy charities. Esther looked forward to going to the National conventions, visiting many states and making new acquaintances. She was a charter member of The Women of the American/Italian Society of Hamilton and Fairfield. She held offices of chaplain and trustee. Esther was well known for greeting customers in her son Richard´s produce market in Blue Ball, and for her culinary skills.
Esther is survived by two sons, Richard Ristaneo of Middletown, OH, and Robert Ristaneo of Lexington, KY; two grandsons, Richard and Robert Ristaneo; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Theobald of Hamilton, OH, Antoinette Moore of Tulsa, OK, and Marguerite (Daniel) Amatulli of Franklin, OH; one brother, Frank Milillo of Fairfield, OH; sisters-in-law, Viola Hupka and Rita Gentile; a special friend, Kate Woosley; fourteen nieces; five nephews; great nieces; cousins; and her dog Mac Dougal.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in Aug 1978; her parents; brother, Tony Milillo; aunts; uncles; cousins; very close friends; and her dog, Lady.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Cheryl Rhodes for her love and care of Esther.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 13, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-4 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
