Eva W. Galeese, 90, of Middletown, died Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. She was born in Germany on March 10, 1926 to parents Gustof and Margarete Pertenbreiter.
Eva was a war bride, meeting an American soldier based in Germany shortly after the war concluded in Europe. They returned to the United States, and Eva and Joe Galeese were married in Valley Forge, PA. After the conclusion of his military service, they moved to Joe's hometown of Middletown. They raised two children and lived in Middletown the rest of their lives.
Eva was a long time member of Holy Trinity and then Holy Family parish. She was an active volunteer, working as a cafeteria worker Holy Trinity school, serving as a girl scout leader, and working concessions at Fenwick athletic events and the Fenwick festival for many summers. She really enjoyed bowling, participating in a women's Tuesday league for many years.
She took great pride in her grandchildren, following their various interests and activities throughout their childhood and adult years.
Mrs. Galeese is survived by her son, James (Janet) Galeese and daughter, Barbara Bertke; grandchildren, Joe Galeese, Jessica Galeese, Allison Bertke, Jenny (Mike) Williamson; great grandchildren, Grace & Scarlett Williamson.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Galeese in 1987, and her four brothers.
Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations be made to a charity of donor's choice.
