Florence Eileen Flowers

Florence Eileen “Jenks” Flowers, 94, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022 at Majestic Care of Middletown, Ohio. She was born October 3, 1927 to Ernest and Lola (Greenlee) Jenkins in Alexandria, Indiana.

Eileen spent her early years in New Castle, Indiana where she attended school and met her future husband of 51 years, John Flowers. They were married on September 21, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas where John was stationed in the Army Air Corps. They eventually settled in Dayton, and later, Middletown, Ohio.

Eileen loved people. She had a gift for starting conversations and never met a stranger. Everyone was a potential friend, from the waitress at Golden Corral to the clerk at the Goodwill store.

Eileen was a storyteller. She enjoyed sharing her experiences, adventures and opinions (solicited or not) with anyone who would listen. She found great pleasure in shopping, traveling, listening to music, singing, dancing, and being at a party. Trips to Europe in 1955 and 1965 were treasured highlights of her life.

Eileen had a strong faith in her God, Jehovah and the hope she found in his word, the Bible. It was very important to her to share her faith and hope with others.

Eileen is survived by two sons, Conrad (Connie) Flowers of Middletown, Ohio and Kevin Flowers of Rexford, Montana; six grandchildren, Amy Flowers, Jonah (Barbara) Flowers, Zachary (Caroline) Flowers, Emily (Tyler) Foust, Laurie (Austin) Kenemer, and Caleb (Brynne) Flowers; great grandchildren, Camryn and Preston Flowers, Gwenyth and Roman Foust, Barrett, Langston, and Collins Kenemer and Angelo and Noel Flowers; and former daughter-in-law, Pamela Garvin. Eileen is also survived by many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Flowers; a brother, Richard (Marcia) Jenkins and her parents.

A memorial service will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Wilson Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00am- 12:00pm at the funeral home. Please consider wearing a mask to protect immunocompromised family members. Inurnment will be at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle, Indiana.
