Floyd G. Bender

Floyd G. Bender, 80, of Middletown, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Columbus on April 7, 1934.

Floyd graduated from Ohio State University - College of Pharmacy in 1959. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska 1954 - 1956. He was formerly the president of Filson's Inc., a women's clothing store in Middletown. He retired from Merrill-Lynch in 1997. He was past president of Temple Beth Sholom, former member of Middletown Rotary, past treasurer of Duck's Unlimited, and volunteered at Middletown Regional Hospital and Atrium Medical Center.

Mr. Bender is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Betsy (Phillips) Bender; son, Michael (Karen) Bender; daughter, Laurie (Mitchell) Serber; sister, Susan Kling; grandchildren, Benjamin Serber, Jessica Serber, Zachary Bender, Tess Bender & Leah Bender; and great grandchild, Ryleigh Bender.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Israel & Sara Bender; brother, Milton Bender; and sister, Betty Rudes.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Rabbi Haviva Horvitz officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
