Forrest W. Barnes, 84, of Monroe, died Monday, August 15, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, on January 6, 1921 to parents Forrest and Elizabeth (Oettinger) Barnes.
Mr. Barnes worked as an engineer for Armco Steel Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He served his country in the Coast Guard during World War II.
Forrest is survived by his wife, Martha (Chamberlain) Barnes; a daughter, Betsy (Lee) South of Hoover, AL; a brother, Dr. James W. Barnes of Whitehall, MI; son-in-law, Jack McGuire of Middletown; grandchildren, Amanda Conley, Samantha South, and Adam South; and a great grandson, Jack Conley.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara McGuire; and his parents.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., Middletown, with Reverend Laurence T. Doty officiating.
