Fred Hawes, 62, of Middletown, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 1 while at home with his family. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with cancer.
Fred was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 19, 1941 to parents Eugene W. and Helen Hawes. He was raised in Bayou La Batre, Alabama and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. He retired as Department Manager of Finishing Operations Scheduling, Shipment Planning, and Capacity Management after a 37-year career with Armco in Ashland, Kentucky and AK Steel Corporation in Middletown. After his retirement, he served the Lord as a member and Business Administrator for University Baptist Church of Middletown.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hawes of Middletown; daughter Heather Hawes of Huntington, West Virginia; daughter Dana Nolen of Middletown, her husband Jon Nolen and their two children Emily and Tyler; brother George Hawes of Irvington, Alabama; brother Russell Hawes of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and sister Mary Derryberry of Alabaster, Alabama.
Fred and his family would like to thank Dr. John Ryan, Dr. Cheryl Skinner, Dr. Albert Malcolm, Dr. Kuldip Sharma, Roosevelt Surgical Associates, and the countless other health professionals who contributed their time and love.
Friends and family may visit from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3 at Wilson Schramm Spaulding Funeral Home in Middletown. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Woodside Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to University Baptist Church of Middletown.
