Frieda Ruth Ehresman Zigler died at home on November 24th at the age of 96. She was born November 10, 1916 to Emilie Augspurger Ehresman and Theodore Ehresman. She lived her entire life in Butler County where she graduated from Lemon Monroe High School. Frieda was a graduate of Bluffton University.
Frieda is a descendant of the six original Mennonite families that settled in Milford Township, Butler County in the year 1817. She was a lifelong member of the Trenton Mennonite Church which was founded by her grandfathers. She served as the Church Historian from 1980 until she died.
Frieda taught in the Butler County schools and was very active in numerous church organizations and also served in community clubs, Farm Bureau 4-H work, and was manager of a grain farm.
Frieda was married to Robert A. Zigler. She was predeceased in death by her parents Emilie and Theodore Ehresman, her husband Robert A. Zigler, and her brothers Walter, Carl, Homer, and Paul. She is survived by her son Thomas A. Zigler, wife Joyce E. Zigler and nephew Kenneth Ehresman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Trenton Mennonite Cemetery (Trenton Mennonite Church, 2 East Main Street, P.O. Box #19, Trenton, Ohio 45067 % of Jo Ann Smith) or the Mennonite Disaster Service (583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543).
A reception and luncheon will be held at the Trenton Mennonite Church Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. A private graveside service will be held with Dr. Dan Flory officiating.
