George A. Schneidler, 90, of Trenton, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield on January 1, 1917 to parents George F. and Ruth (Gunckle) Schneidler, and lived most of his life in Middletown & Trenton.
George graduated from Middletown High School and studied engineering at the University of Cincinnati while working for Armco Steel Corporation. He served with the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he was an industrial engineer for Armco, traveling to Armco plants around the country to improve efficiency. He retired in 1971. After retirement he served on Trenton City Council and Planning Commission, was President of the Trenton Historical Society, Butler County Historical Society, and the Trenton Mennonite Church Board. He was also active as a 32nd degree Mason, as an Antioch Shriner, and as a board member of the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce, working on Christmas in Trenton. George was known for his impeccable filing system and was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed trading stocks on the internet until very recently.
The family wants to thank Hospice Care of Middletown, for the wonderful care George received during his illness.
Mr. Schneidler is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Jean (Kennel) Schneidler; a daughter, Cindy (Alan) Burley of Trenton; a son, Rob (Allison) Schneidler of Lebanon; sister, Jeannette Gray of Middletown; and four grandchildren, Adam Burley, Amanda Burley, Andrew Schneidler, and Evan Schneidler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Schneidler in 2003; and brother-in-law Raymond Gray.
Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Woodside Cemetery, Section 9, with Pastor June Thomsen officiating. There will be no visitation.
