George Coures, 91, of Madison Township, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Ohio's Hospice Of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Cincinnati on June 26, 1927 to parents Frank and Sophia (Christoulakis) Coures.
George was a veteran of the United States Army, having served on the front lines during the Korean War. He worked as a radar engineer on the B-47 and B-52 Bombers and at various Air Force Bases as a Digital Computer Engineer. He participated in the pre-launch checkout of Apollo 8, 9 & 11. He taught Systems Analysis at Miami University and was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Dayton.
Mr. Coures is survived by his son, Kelley (Justin) Coures; beloved stepson, Jonathan (Dana) Morgan; stepdaughter, Laure (Todd) Ebner; stepson, Douglas (Lisa) Morgan; and grandchildren, Ben & Grace Morgan and Christopher, Nicholas, Thomas Ebner.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Helen Joyce Morgan-Coures; and his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Father Bill Cassis officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 - 1:30 pm. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial donations may be made to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand Ave., Middletown, Ohio 45044.
