George H. Stephens, 80, of Monroe, died Monday, November 28, 2005, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Bath County, Kentucky on November 13, 1925 to parents Roy and Clemmie (Warders) Stephens.
Mr. Stephens worked as a maintenance supervisor at Armco Steel Corporation until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, he worked in grounds maintenance at Armco Park. He served his country in the Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 218. He was also a member of Monroe Presbyterian Church.
George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise (Bailey) Stephens of Monroe; a daughter, Pat (Bill) Ledford of Enon; son, Richard (Linda) Stephens of Mason; sister, Dorothy (Billy) Shields of Owensville, KY; four grandchildren, Scott (Deana) Ledford, Cecilia (James) Howard, Michelle Stephens, and Stephanie (Jesse) Hill; and three great grandchildren, Marissa & Alyssa Howard, and Ashtyn Ledford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alma Warner.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Monroe Presbyterian Church, 57 West Elm, with Reverend Richard Schechter and Pastor Patrick Warren officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor´s choice.
