George (Tim) McLaughlin, 73, of Middletown died Monday at Otterbein Retirement Village. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Middletown High School. He attended Miami University of Oxford and received his Bachelor of Science degree in business and became a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Tim served his country in the 101st Infantry of the United States Army, which took him to Frankfort, Germany in 1951-1952. In 1968 he established his distribution company, McLaughlin Inc. of Middletown. Mr. McLaughlin was an adventurer who, since childhood, sought the challenges of fly fishing and game bird hunting. He was a champion at golf and fishing and pursued these sports in Florida, Scotland, Newfoundland, Alaska, and locally at the Sycamore Creek Country Club. He served on the board of Sycamore Creek, the greens committee of Hawks Nest Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida, and as an officer in the Middletown Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and served as chairman of early fund raising activities at Bishop Fenwick High School. Tim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Meyers) McLaughlin; sons Timothy M. (Dorothy) McLaughlin, John R. McLaughlin, and Peter N. McLaughlin; daughters Michele (Patrick) Schubert and Patrice (Gregory) Hardman; brother Richard (Dorothy) McLaughlin; and grandchildren March, Abigail, & Allison McLaughlin, Christopher Schubert and Paige Hardman.
Father John Civille will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
