Gilbert Lee Theodore

Gilbert Lee Theodore, 78, of Middletown, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at home. He was born in Middletown on May 6, 1939.

Gilbert worked at AK Steel for 34 years, retiring in June 1993. The remainder of his retirement years he pursued various self-employment job interests. He had served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 - 1958. On March 12, 1982 he married his one true love, Lisa. Gilbert was a kind and gentle man who loved life and loved people. He loved to cook and specialized in rotisserie chicken.

Mr. Theodore leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Lisa (Griffin) Theodore; daughter, Michelle Cox; granddaughter, Caitlin Cox; precious great grandson, Channing Cox; and sister, Faye Emerson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelma Hogg; father, Leroy Theodore; sisters, Marlene Smith & Jean Pugh; brother, Laurendale Theodore; and beloved son, Shawn Theodore.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice of Dayton for their care.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Arnold Brewer and Pastor Wayne Keith officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, Ohio 45044 to assist with funeral expenses.
