Goble Shepherd, 83, of Middletown, Ohio, arrived in Heaven and reunited with the love of his life on July 30, 2011. Goble was born on February 29, 1928, in Knott County, KY to parents Russell and Rozellia (Ritchie).
He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. He leaves his family with an amazing Godly heritage. He enjoyed church, family gatherings, fishing, playing cards and checkers, shooting pool, spending winters in Florida, gardening and throwing horse shoes. He began working at Miami Cabinet in 1947 and continued there through the 1960's strike years. Throughout his life, his many jobs (usually several at once) included operating heavy equipment, drilling wells, electrical, plumbing, constructing roads and buildings. He co-founded S&S Construction where he worked many long hours and from where he officially retired in 1991. Always willing to lend a hand, he was amazingly skilled in many areas and was considered a "jack-of-all-trades" from whom many sought advice and assistance. He will be missed greatly by many.
In addition to his parents, Goble was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Gracie; sisters, Evelyee, Margaret, Liddy, Gracie, and Laurie; brothers, Langley, AC and Stanley; and great -granddaughter , Jerica Shepherd. He is survived by a sister Olive Patrick of Hindman, KY; sons Phil (Shirley) of Carlisle, OH, Tim (Betty) of Middletown, OH; Tony of Middletown, OH, and his daughters, Della (Charlie) Tucker of Somerville, OH, Gretta (Ron) McWhorter of Trenton, OH, Leatha (Mike) Chaney of Middletown, OH, and Marsha (Kevin) Whitt of Deland FL; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
