Goebel Gentry

Goebel Gentry, 81, of Middletown, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Beattyville, Kentucky on March 11, 1929 to parents Brack and Mattie (Oldham) Gentry.

Goebel owned Gentry's Marathon, Gentry Auto Sales, Gentry Sand & Gravel and Gentry Excavating. He was a Kentucky Colonel, played guitar, enjoyed bluegrass & gospel music and loved to travel.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife, Ann (Baker) Gentry; four children, Anthony Gentry, Jennifer Thompson, Greg Gentry & Timothy Mark Gentry; brothers, Brack (Emma) Gentry & Walter Gentry; sisters, Naomi Thomas, Mary Lakes & Helen Varney; four grandchildren, Susan (Scott) Horne, Leanna & Jayna Thompson & Andrea (Mike) McCready; four great grandchildren, Shelby Horne, Gracie McCready, Josh McCready & Ryan (Diana) McCready; exchange student, Birgit (van den Boom) Loch; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Gentry; parents; sisters, Opal Gilbert & Genola Spencer; and brother, Zola Gentry.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Malcolm and the group at Middletown Hematology & Oncology, Dr. Moore, Dr. Solomito and Hospice Care of Middletown for all of their love and support.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Bob Burns officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care of Middletown, 1001 Grove Street, Suite 800, Middletown, OH 45044.
