Gordon Kenneth “GK” Smith, 49, died suddenly and unexpectedly, on April 4, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Hamilton on July 21, 1954 and mostly resided there.
Mr. Smith worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Butler County Sherrif´s Office, and was in charge of security at the Butler County Courthouse. He retired in August of 2002, after 25 years of service. As an avid boater, scuba and sky diver, he was recently residing in Florida and was returning to the area for the summer. Gordon was also a former United States Army MP, a motorcyclist, skier, and horseman, and had even tried the rodeo. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his son, Richard K. (Stacy) Smith of Lenox, MI; four grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Olivia, & Aiden of Lenox, MI; his mother, E. June (Art) Ulrich of Middletown, OH; a brother, Jeff (Ronnie) Ulrich of Leesburg, VA; a niece, Alexa Smith of Leesburg, VA; and longtime friend, Cheryl Allen.
His father, Gordon L. Smith, preceded “Kenie” in death in 1980.
At Gordon’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
