Gracie Shepherd, broke the earthly bonds to meet Jesus face to face and dance with the angels on January 22, 2006. She was born in Knott County, Kentucky on June 5, 1925 to parents Goble and Lula (Ritchie) Combs.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, church, and family gatherings. She was an avid gardener and an amazing cook. She was a kind & gentle soul who touched many, many lives. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Gracie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Goble Shepherd; seven children, Della (Charlie) Tucker of Somerville, Gretta (Ron) McWhorter of Trenton, Leatha (Mike) Chaney of Middletown, Marsha (Kevin) Whitt of Deland, FL, Phil (Shirley) Shepherd of Carlisle, Tim (Betty) Shepherd of Trenton, and Tony (Cathy) Shepherd of Trenton; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two sisters, Edith Childers of Louisville, KY and Effiemae Amburgey of Somerset, KY; two brothers, Pearl Combs of Monroe and Albert Combs of Ft. Knox, KY; numerous nieces & nephews; and very special friends, Ginger & David Dougherty of Somerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe, Jasper, Troy, & Larry Combs; and great granddaughter, Jerica Shepherd.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 12:00 NOON at Freedom House Church of God, 5346 Hamilton-Trenton Rd., Trenton, OH with Pastor Larry E. Fultz and Pastor Heather Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 PM at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
