Harold F. “Scotty” McGraw, 91, a lifelong resident of the Middletown area died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon. He was born on November 11, 1926 and raised in Middletown, Ohio the youngest of ten children born to Margaruite and Robert Leslie McGraw. His siblings preceded him in death: Ervin, Earl (Fox), Eugene, Freda Wilson, Bernadine Yenser, Roberta Romans, Ruth Steele, Paul (Scott), and Elmer.
Mr. McGraw served in the US Navy during World War II onboard the USS Palawan (ARG-10) in the South Pacific. He was employed by Armco as a rigger shop planner until his retirement in 1985 after 37 years of service. He was active in the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Middletown, as well as the Faith United Methodist Church of Middletown. He volunteered with several local organizations. He moved to Trenton in 1955 and raised his family there. He and his wife moved to the Otterbein Retirement Community in 2004.
He is survived by his children: Michael (Kathleen) McGraw of Hoboken, New Jersey, Marsha McGraw of Indiana, PA, Kent (JoAnn) Wagner of Somerville, Ohio, Paul (Lisa) Wagner of Middletown, Marie Wagner of Hamilton, and Teresa Wagner Brown (Steve) of Middletown as well as daughter-in laws Sharon McGraw of Indiana, PA and Diane Wagner of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Bowling McGraw to whom he had been married 58 years, and sons John Wagner and Marc McGraw, as well as grandson Mitch Ratliff and great-granddaughter Cheyenne Wise. He also leaves 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are with Wilson-Schramm Spaulding Funeral Home on Roosevelt Blvd. in Middletown. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 20 from 1-3 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home. A private burial will take place on Monday at Butler County Memorial Park.
