Harold K. "Mike" Michael, 90, of Middletown, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. He was born in Germantown, on February 10, 1918 to parents Seabury and Charlotte (Vandiver) Michael.
Mike worked as a mechanic for Armco Steel, becoming head of the East side garage. He retired in 1980 after 38 years. He was a member of Jefferson Lodge F&AM #90 and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a charter member of the Pacemakers Club. With Armco's help, he built a truck that went fast and could carry an iron lung. They were called the Polio Flying Squadron.
Mr. Michael is survived by his wife, Pauline "Polly" (Bach) Michael; a daughter, Cassandra S. Michael; and two nephews, Carl Michael and Bobby Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leonard Michael, Eugene Michael, and John Michael.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 12:00 NOON at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, with Pastor Roger Green officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, prior to the service from 10:00 – 12:00 NOON with Masonic Services conducted by Jefferson Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Germantown Union Cemetery.
