Harold L. Parks, 90, resident of Hunter, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant in Monroe. He was born in Middletown on July 16, 1928 to parents George & Della Parks.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. After a short stay in the United States Navy, he married the love of his life, Betty Wright (Parks). They were married on his birthday in 1949, which was 69 years this past July. After high school and serving in the Navy, Harold worked at Armco Steel, retiring in 1985 after 40 years of service, as a maintenance supervisor in West Processing. In the early years Harold's passion was sports and coaching various Little League baseball teams in the Franklin area. He went on to be the co-founder and first president of the Hunter Knothole Organization in 1968. After his retirement, he enjoyed his twin granddaughters and his houseboat on Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Harold was a long standing Mason and member of Lincoln Lodge #693 F.& A.M. and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Mr. Parks is survived by his only son, Steve (Kathi) Parks; two granddaughters, Heather Parks & Heidi (Brad) Ewert; and two great grandsons, Luke & Colin Ewert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Parks this past September; parents; and sisters, Lodema "Niki" Kurtz & Lorain Wheeler.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Randy Wheeler officiating. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
The family is asking that no flowers be sent. Instead please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Harold’s memory.
