Harold W. Newcomb

Harold W. Newcomb, 85, of Middletown, died on July 3, 2006, at The Gables At Middletown. He was born in Franklin, on August 8, 1920 to parents Clifford and Gertrude (Smith) Newcomb.

Mr. Newcomb worked as a gas house operator for Armco Steel Corporation, retiring in 1981 after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and member of the American Legion Post 218. Harold was a former member of the Armco Park Association, former volunteer firefighter for Amanda, and was an avid bowler.

Harold is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Bill) Coleman of Germantown and Carol (Chuck) Klingensmith of Greenville, PA; two sisters, Betty Finney of Gratis and Millie Helton of Middletown; a brother, Bob Newcomb of Hamilton; four grandchildren, David & Betsy Klingensmith, Jayme Coleman, and Ryan (Darius) Coleman; two great grandchildren, Tana & Aden Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther L. Newcomb in 2003: his parents; brothers, Ray Newcomb and Eddie Newcomb; and sisters, Hilda Mason and Audrey Lewis.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Pastor Steve Fox officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
