“Handsome Harry”, as he was nationally known, passed away on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018, after a long and illustrious life. Harry was born in Middletown, Ohio on March 3, 1921 and lived his entire life being a champion and cheerleader for Middletown.
Harry graduated from Middletown High School in 1940, and married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Davies, in 1944, during World War II. He served in the Army Air Corp on secret rocketry development, and completed 28 combat missions as a bomber pilot. After the war, he completed his education, earning his degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, and later a double-major Master's Degree from Miami University. Handsome Harry spent 38 years at Aeronca Manufacturing, serving in many capacities until his retirement as a Vice President. He was well known across the United States in aeronautical circles both commercially and governmentally. Harry's passion was his service to the community in many capacities, from the Chamber of Commerce and the Middletown Airport Commission, to his national record-setting service as the longest serving board member of Junior Achievement. His service to his family and friends knew no bounds. (Those who knew him knew his dedication.) His was the "character" that books are written about, and which memories sustain - decorum prevents listing it all here.
Harry leaves his loving family to mourn his loss and celebrate his life, including his sons, Dave (Robin) Pratt, Dick (Cheri) Pratt & Doug Pratt; seven grandchild, Chad (Jihan) Thomas, Sydney Pratt, Robyn (Walter) Rawle, Bobby (Vicki) Jordan, Joshua Williams, Douglas Pratt & Andrew Pratt; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2001; parents, Harry E. & Luwella Pratt; brother, Wade Pratt; sister, Gail Ireland; and grandson, Joshua D. Pratt.
