Hazel R. Shatto

Hazel Ruth (Hall) Shatto, 90, of The Gables of Middletown, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Hawthorn Glen Senior Living Campus. She was born in Powell County, Kentucky on April 10, 1916 to parents William S. and Lieudisa (Sparks) Hall, and moved to Middletown when she was 7 years old.

Hazel worked for Middletown School System, in the cafeteria of Creekview School, retiring after 16 years. She was a 55 year member of Blue Ball Presbyterian Church and worked many years in the Parks & Recreation Summer Programs. For years she was a member of Middletown Grandmother's Club and was a 25 year member of Eastern Star, Amaranth, & White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A.“Buck” Shatto; her parents; brothers, Okra Jordan and William E. Hall; and sisters, Muriel May Hall, Miva Bluhm, and Mabel A. Jackson.

She is survived by four daughters, Barbara A. (Dale) Draut of Monroe, Bonnie M. (Thomas) Horn of Middletown, Charlotte (Ted) Craft of Monroe, and Dorothy (Ralph) Leeds of Washington Court House; a son, David R. Shatto of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Greg (Melinda) Dennis, Jeff (Marda) Dennis, Cynthia Ferguson, Daniel (Ann Marie) Horn, John (Tonya) Koeppel, Kenny (Ginny) Craft, Stephen (April) Craft, Jodie Craft, Lauri (Kevin) Jensen, Jason (Julie) Leeds, Jeremy Leeds, David M. (Teri) Shatto, Tony Shatto, Tina Shatto, & Billy Shatto; great grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary, Lucas, Noah, Kyle, Alex, April, Mark, Jessica, Catherine, Dakota, Corbin, Isaac, Abbie, Aaron, Lindsey, Nathan, & Justin; a sister, Viva J. Byrd of Middletown; and two brothers: Pete (Angela) Hall of Trenton and Ralph J. (Lois) Hall of Hunter.

The family wishes to extend their many thanks to Dr. Jeff Zollett and Dr. Gary Brown and a special thanks to Bill, Janet, Kathy, Jeanette, & Cherise of Hospice Care of Middletown.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown, with Pastor Steve Botts and Kevin Lawler officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home, with Eastern Star services conducted by Prosser Chapter #367 OES at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Middletown, 1131 Manchester Ave., Middletown, OH 45042 or Blue Ball Presbyterian Church, 6901 Roosevelt Ave., Middletown, OH 45044.
