Helen L. Schramm, 90, of Daytona Beach, FL died Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Halifax Health Hospice Care (Daytona Beach, FL). She was born in Middletown, Ohio on October 3, 1927 to parents Michael and Anna (Cmak) Mandzak.
Helen obtained her education at St. John's Catholic School. She worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell for 13 years. She volunteered at the Gift Nook at Middletown Regional Hospital. Helen is a former member of The Middletown Elks #257 and St. John's and St. Mary's Catholic Churches. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope and volunteered at the church's thrift store. Helen is a former member of Wildwood, Forest Hills, and Daytona Beach Country Clubs. She played on two women's golf leagues where she scored a hole in one on two separate occasions. Helen was an avid bingo player. In her spare time she knitted hats for premature and drug addicted babies.
Helen is survived by her husband, N. Richard "Dick" Schramm to whom she would have been married to for 67 years on November 25, 2017. She is also survived by her son, Nicholas (Pam) Schramm of Piedmont, Oklahoma, daughters Susan (Gary) Thomas of Middletown, Ohio, Mary (Jay) Snodgrass of Mason, Ohio. Grandchildren are Ashley (Ben) Sammons of Hamilton, Ohio, Sarah (Jeremy) Stover and Nikki Schramm of Edmond, Oklahoma, Lucas Thomas of Middletown, Ohio, and Jami Snodgrass of West Carrolton, Ohio. Great Grandchildren include Karsyn, Kadence, and Kyzer Stover, Delia, Lydia, and Clive Sammons. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Mike Jr., John, and Walter Mandzak and sisters Ann Weikert, Mary Veronica Scheibert, and Margaret Mason.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish – St. John’s Church, 1405 First Ave., Middletown, OH with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 – 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
