EDWARDS, Henry R. 81, of Middletown, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Corinth, Kentucky on July 18, 1927 to parents William and Retta (Henry) Edwards. Henry served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1969. At age 18 he enlisted in the US Army and spent 24 years in the Army Medical Corp, retiring at the rank of Sgt. First Class in February of 1969. He spent the next 20 years working at Mercy Hospital, Hamilton as the purchasing, agent retiring in June of 1989. Mr. Edwards served in Germany from 1945 to 1948, Korea from 1950 to 1954 and Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He was saved October 1948, when baptized in the Rebdue River, Waynesville, Missouri by Rev. Dallas Wells. He led a full life, with an interesting time when stationed in Alaska, serving in a field hospital (in tents) during winter maneuvers with temps of 60 below zero. Mr. Edwards was a member of American Legion Post 218, VFW Post 3809, TREA (Retired Enlisted Association, Life Member). Mr. Edwards is survived by his two sons; Darrell Lee (Lisa) Edwards of Danville, IN, Michael Ray (Laurie) Edwards of Kenai, Alaska; two daughters, Mary (Fred) Turner of Middletown, OH and Melinda (Randy) Armet of Bozeman, Montana; Sister, Dorothy J. Kramer of Liberty, IN; four grandchildren, Shannon Renee, Michelle Lynn, Nicholas Wayne & Kathy Lee and Five great grandchildren; Taylor, Marylou, Shelby, Austin and Shaun. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Jeff Zollett for his care of our father and to the staff of Four South of the Atrium Medical Center. A very special thanks to the staff at the dialysis center. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Chuck Cotton officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Milville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, 2200 Victory Parkway Suite 510, Cincinnati, OH 45206
