Hershal Leroy McGraw, 95, of Middletown died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. He was born in Frenchburg, Kentucky on August 29, 1907 to parents John & Minnie (Osborn) McGraw.
Mr. McGraw worked as an inspector for the State of Ohio. He was a member and past president of the F.O.P.A., vice-president of the Local Teamsters Union, member of Middletown Elks #257, was a Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. He was the former owner of the Meadowlawn Cafe for 30 years and was a member of the American Tavern Association. Hershal was associated with the Building Project 600 at Armco Steel Corporation and served in the Navy during World War II.
Hershal is survived by his daughter Ruth Jean Horne of Middletown; sister Ruth Schaefer of Florida; six grandchildren James (Mary) Oakley, Stephen M. Horne, Melia (Gary) Calvert, Debi (David) Chandler, Tracy (Eli) Kommenovich, and Gerald (Tammie) Withers; 14 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ada Rachel McGraw in March, 2000; his parents; a son John McGraw; a brother Paul McGraw; and two sisters Elizabeth Roberts and Veda Hagard.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. with Pastor Randy Wallace officiating. Visitation will be Saturday prior to the service, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
