Hobart L. "Les" Chase, 94, died January 8, 2016, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Cincinnati on July 7, 1921, the son of Roland and Margaret (Brossard) Chase.
Les attended Roger Bacon High School and the University of Cincinnati. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on his 21st birthday. He served with the 3rd Division in the South Pacific where he earned a Purple Heart and contracted malaria. Les was employed as an electrical engineer at McGraw Construction and retired from AK Steel. After retirement he returned to work for McGraw and Belcan.
Mr. Chase is survived by his wife, Janet M. (Blashock Reider); sons, Joseph, Paul (Sally) & Richard; daughters, Rose Ann (Mark) Eckart, Catherine (Kevin) Bente, Regina (Joseph) Stugmyer, Mary Chase, Monica (Dillis) Bolton & Anita (Joseph) Foley; step daughter, Patrice Reider; sister, Wilma (Stanley) Schappacher; 22 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Regina (Schroeder); brothers, Andrew & Charles; his young daughter, Mary Margaret; and step daughter, Sharon Reider.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:30 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, c/o Holy Family Parish, 201 Clark Street, Middletown, OH 45042 or to a Right To Life of choice. Les was a man of faith, honor and courage and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
