Holston Joel “Shifty” Shiflet, 79, of Middletown, former resident of Vandalia, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Lima, Ohio on January 22, 1925 to parents Holston and Margaret (Beer) Shiflet.
Mr. Shiflet was a member of Eastview Baptist Church. He was a Mason, past master of Mystic 405, and member of Scottish Rite. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a plumber for Schott Plumbing and for Delco, retiring after 35 years of service.
Holston is survived by his wife, Edna (Evans) Shiflet of Middletown; a daughter, Diane Bachman of Otterbein-Lebanon; a son, Joel (Connie) Shiflet of Monroe; a sister, Charlotte Smith of Palmdale, CA; four grandchildren, Joshua Lowell Steven (Michele) Shiflet, Jamee (Greg) Shiflet-Maurer, Suzanna (Mike) Woeste, Sarah Bachman; and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Charles Shiflet.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 3, 2004 at 11:30 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Reverend Dwaine Tilford officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 – 5 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Tipp City.
