Homer E. Sorrell, 87, of Middletown, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on June 20, 1924 to parents Roy and Nellie (Little) Sorrell.
Homer taught & coached for Middletown Public Schools. He was a member of the Middletown Hall of Fame for basketball and football and he kept score at the games. He served his country in the United States Army, was a life member of VFW #3809, was an avid golfer and member of Lincoln Lodge #693 F. & A.M. and Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite.
Mr. Sorrell is survived by his sisters, Jean (Charles) Bryant & Etta (Lesley) Howell and many nieces, nephews and loving family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert Sorrell & Linzie Sorrell; and sister, Helen Tadych.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Larry Davis officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:30 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children Burn Center, 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
