Horace "Gene" Perry, 77, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, December 29, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, Ohio on May 29, 1931 to parents Clarence and Elsie (Wells) Perry.
Gene worked for the City of Long Beach, California as a superintendent of Building Services for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a purple heart, bronze star and silver star. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards.
Mr. Perry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bernice F. (McGuire) Perry; two sons, Kenneth E. (Vicki) Perry and Kevin P. (Kristine) Perry; five grandchildren, Chelsea Perry, Sarah Perry, Gillian Perry, Olivia Perry and Kip Perry; a special sister-in-law, Betty McGuire; brother and sister-in-law, Shirley and Bob Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Cooper.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at Woodside Cemetery Chapel, 1401 Woodside Blvd., Middletown with Reverend James Kinser officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at chapel. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Reid Hospital or the charity of a donor's choice.
