Howard Bartlett, 94, of Monroe, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on October 12, 1920 to parents Alva and Clevie (Sharp) Bartlett.
Howard graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1948 with a degree in Industrial Arts and Physical Education. He worked as a teacher, having taught at M.C. Napier High School in Hazard, Kentucky where he also coached Boys Basketball, then locally for Middletown City Schools, teaching Health, P.E., and Industrial Arts and retiring in 1984. After retirement he was co-owner of Bartlett Picture Framing. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Bartlett is survived by his wife, Edna (Truesdell) Bartlett; sons, J.D. (Carolyn) Bartlett & Mike (Catherine Messner) Bartlett; and nephew, Steven Smith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Bartlett; parents; infant brother, Kyle Bartlett; brothers, Clarence, Everett, Ralph, Cecil & Eugene Bartlett; and sister, Florine Adkins.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Tom Bartlett officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 - 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
