Ida Jean Pearce, 81, of Middletown, passed away quietly at home with her family near her side on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. She was born in Middletown on April 7, 1936 to parents Costantino and Elvira (Sora) Capozzi.
Ida was a 1954 graduate of Middletown High School and upon graduation, spent 5 years with the Gardner-Richardson Company. She left the workforce in 1959 to raise her family and returned in 1970 to work with Middletown City School District, where she spent 26 years in various positions, with her last and most enjoyable position in the athletic department of Monroe High School. Ida enjoyed raising her family, attending their events and watching them grow. Joy came in a different fashion in the early 90's with grandchildren. She always found time to spoil them with special meals and treats, especially the cinnamon muffins she delivered to their classrooms at St. John XXIII School.
Mrs. Pearce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hal Pearce; children, David (Karen) Pearce, Rick (Saundra) Pearce & Lisa Pearce; along with 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Maggie, Ricky & Allison Pearce; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, Tony, Jerry, Dick, Frank & infant brother, Jenerose Capozzi; and 2 sisters, Nancy Castellano & Julia Root.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery Mausoleum, with a celebration of life following at Holy Trinity Parish Center on Clark Street.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in honor of Ida to Holy Family Parish, 201 Clark St, Middletown, Ohio 45042 – OR – St. John XXIII Elementary School, 3806 Manchester Rd., Middletown, Ohio 45042.
