Ivor R. Roberts, 85, of Middletown, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Hyden, Kentucky on October 4, 1929 to parents Abiga and Jane (Lewis) Roberts.
Ivor moved to Cincinnati and started working at the age of 14 at Union Terminal as a food helper and continued in the food industry until the age of 80. He moved to Middletown to work at the Manchester Hotel in 1946 and worked there until Armco closed the hotel. He & his son Tim purchased the Brass Rail & then Ivor ran the Blue Goose Restaurant. Ivor met many friends while in the restaurant business and at Grace Baptist Church, where he was a member. He was offered many head chef jobs in larger cities but stayed in Middletown with family & friends. He enjoyed coaching all four of his sons in baseball at Smith Park. He also enjoyed working on old cars with his boys, family saying was "If he wasn't at a cooking grill, he was at a cars grill."
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. Fisher; sons, Larry D. (Sandi) Roberts, Ivor R. (Nam) Roberts, Jr. & John E. (Carol) Roberts; daughters, Beverly F. Patrick & Deborah K. Roberts; brother, Richard (Leone) Roberts; sister, Lila Morrel; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Roberts; son, Tim Roberts; parents; brother, James Roberts; & sister, Nancy Roberts.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Jim Winters officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
