Jack Deaton

Jack Deaton was born February 24, 1931 in Altro, Kentucky to parents Charles & Nora Deaton. He passed away April 11 in Gainesville, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jack grew up in the Monroe/Middletown area. He celebrated 12 years of perfect attendance in school.

Jack was drafted into the Army where he served his country in Korea. Due to his skill in tank gunnery, he became an instructor and then on to tank commander. He worked at Armco Steel for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He worked in the Roundhouse and became an instructor for diesel locomotive maintenance. In later years, he became a Religious Science minister and was in ministry for many years.

Jack always enjoyed singing lead but excelled at singing tenor in Barbershop and gospel quartets. He led several church choirs in earlier years in the Middletown area.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Crase, brother Edward Deaton, his first wife Patsy Deaton and his granddaughter, Megan Deaton.

Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth, three children, Debbie (Bob) Wells, Chuck Deaton, Jennifer (Jim) Reagan, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren – Leigha (Adam) Blevins and son Logan, Stacy (Greg) Plunkett, and sons Camdyn and Bennett, Morgan (Derek) Benner, Trevor Deaton, Rachel Klaiber and Ben Klaiber, his stepson Joe (Debbie) Faulkner and their family Jonathan (Allyson) Faulkner and their son Grayson, Jolyn (Andrew) Caddill and their daughter, Ellorie. He Is also survived by two sisters, Gerry Gunderson and Linda Webb.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated with the family at a later date.
