James A. Beatty, of Monroe, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, after a brief illness, at the age of 86. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on September 13, 1928 to parents Harry J. and Virginia (Younginger) Beatty.
Jim graduated from Xavier University, Cincinnati. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. He served with the United States Army in Korea. He had worked as a salesman in Harry A. Finkelman's office. He received his designation as a member of the Appraisal Institute and he served as president of the Ohio Chapter of American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. He was elected to the Board of Directors of American Savings & Loan Association, where he served as president 1984 - 1999. He currently was self-employed in commercial real estate. He enjoyed his poker club.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He was married to his wife, Patricia for 57 years. They have four children, Ann (Timothy) Gilkey, Elizabeth (Lee) Banks, David (Stephanie) Beatty & Michael (Carol) Beatty; and twelve grandchildren, Aaron & Lucas Gilkey, Emily, Thomas & Joseph Banks, Samuel, Lucy, George, & Bridget Beatty, and Molly, Maxwell & Mark Beatty.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
