James D. Crist, Sr., 86, of Monroe, died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Middletown on October 28, 1930 to parents John Allison and Esther (Rodgers) Crist.
James had owned Hamilton Broom & Mop and Hamilton RV & Boat Storage, retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. James had a very generous & loving spirit and was a people person who loved to tell jokes and always left everyone with a smile.
Mr. Crist is survived by his sons, James D. (Beth) Crist Jr. & Thomas (Donna) Crist; daughters, Karen Crist, Susan Crist & Elizabeth (Jeff) Ferrara; sister, Sarah Barr; grandchildren, James D. (Christina Nicole) Crist III, Joe Crist, Ben Crist, Sam Crist, Katie Crist, Gabby Ferrara, Rachel Ferrara & Emily Moyers; and great grandchildren, Ella Crist, Bella Zielnski, Logan Zielnski & James D. "Nash" Crist IV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Crist; parents; brother, John Crist; and sister, Phoebe Keene.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe with Father Stephen Lattner OSB as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
