James Desmond "Dez" Dineen, 96, of Middletown, died Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. He was born in Middletown on January 12, 1917 to parents William R. and Ella (Carney) Dineen.
Dez worked for the Middletown Post Office for 35 years, retiring in 1976. He served his country in the United States Army as a Warrant Officer during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 218, VFW Post 3809 and life member of the DAV #131. He was also a member of Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church.
Mr. Dineen is survived by his sons, James (Joyce) Dineen, Tom Dineen & Joe (Barb) Dineen; grandchildren , Shari (Dave) Lacy, Leslie (Keith) Renneker, Megan (Matt) Kistner, Matt (Sara) Dineen & Michelle (Jeff) McElhaney; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmese Dineen; parents; and eight brothers & sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father Ed Pratt as celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
