James Sweeney, Jr., 78, of Middletown, Ohio, died Friday, 1/18/2002 at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. Mr. Sweeney was a member of Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church where he served as an usher and a counter. He attended school at Holy Trinity then graduated from Middletown High School in 1941. He served his country in the Army during WW II fighting with the 12th Armor Division "Hell Cats" during the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his parents James H. Sr. and Beatrice A. (McMahon) Sweeney. He is survived by a brother William J. (Jean) Sweeney; an uncle William J. (Jean) McMahon; a niece Margaret (Marty) Fedders; nephews Joe (Deb) Sweeney & Thomas B. (Karen) Sweeney; and great nieces Stephanie & Kelly Sweeney. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery with American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard providing graveside military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Fenwick High School Building Fund 3800 Manchester Road Middletown, OH 45042.
