James I. Harris, 91, of Middletown, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Middletown on January 7, 1922 to parents Charles and Mary (McFall) Harris.
Jim worked with Progress Vending for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and VFW Post 3809. He was also a member of the Miami Valley Stamp Club.
Mr. Harris is survived by his children, Susan (Ray) Harris-Brown, Mike (Susie) Harris & Kathy (Bob) Hadley; and grandchildren, Jenny & Emily Harris and Katie & Kara Hadley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor V. Harris; parents; and brother, Jack Harris.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all of Jim's caregivers, especially his ballerina.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
