James S. Farkas, 77, of Monroe, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at Middletown Regional Hospital. James was born on July 5, 1925 in Middletown to John and Elizabeth (Botos) Farkas. He served in World War II with the United States Navy. Upon his discharge in 1946 he started working for Armco Steel as a Crane Operator in the BOF, and worked there for 40 years until retiring in 1986.
He belonged to the American Legion Post 218 and the VFW Post 3809.
James is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Landers) Farkas of Monroe; and a sister Elizabeth Franz of Bedford, Pa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Joe, Frank, Willie, and David Farkas; and a sister, Margaret Charles.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 1p.m. at the Butler County Memorial Park Chapel, with Monsignor Paul Metzger officiating. Interment will also be at Butler County Memorial Park, with Military Honors. There will be no visitation.
