James W. Croucher, age 69 of Monroe passed away Tuesday, June 4th 2013 from Rheumatoid Lung Disease, at West Chester Hospital. Jim was born October 31, 1943, in Hamilton, OH. He served our country in the United States Army. Jim retired from Eastern Weighing Inspection Bureau and CSX Railroad and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Jim also served as Assistant Fire Chief of the LeSoursdville Volunteer Fire Department and as a Lemon Township Trustee for twenty years . He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He and his wife, Elsa, founded Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV) after their youngest daughter, Tina, was murdered. They have spoken to thousands of young people, teaching them about teen dating violence. They and their organization have received state and national recognition for their work. The Tina Croucher Act was passed in 2009. This law required school districts to teach a curriculum about the prevention of dating violence. He was a member of the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God and the Jefferson Masonic Lodge. His daughters, Connie Croucher Jones, and Tina Suzanne Croucher, and his daughter-in-law, Linda Cassidy Croucher, and his father, James W. Croucher, Sr., and his mother, Mildred (Sis) Croucher, preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his wife, Elsa (Coffey) Croucher, daughter Terri (Bob) Evick of Middletown, and son, Tim Croucher of Cincinnati, six grandchildren, Rob (Ashley) Evick, Tyler Evick, Kassie (Nathanael) Harney, Ryan Jones, Sarah and Molly Croucher, one great grandson, Braylen Evick, and one brother Kenneth (DeeAnne) Croucher of El Paso, Texas. We would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at West Chester Hospital. Susan Duncan was our special angel. Dr. Tanase, Dr. Khanna, and Dr. Kim gave loving kindness to our family. Visitations and funeral will be at the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, 2000 North Breiel Middletown, Ohio 45042. Visitations will be on Friday, June 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 and the funeral will be on Saturday, June 8th at 10:00. Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, with a designation specifying The Roma Lee Courvoisier School in Reque Peru.
