Janet Louise Salyer
June 2, 1949 - February 11, 2022
Janet was born on June 2, 1949 in Camden, Ohio to parents Lloyd and Teresa (Snively) Doty. She graduated from Preble Shawnee in 1967 and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1970. Jan worked at Middletown Hospital, and was known as Endo Jan, she loved and was loved by many co-workers that became life long friends. Her work ethic and knowledge were respected and admired by all. Jan loved traveling with family and friends, she just enjoyed going and doing, all you had to do was ask and Jan would go any time she was able.
Jan was a very loving and patient (very patient!) Mother to Mark and Coray, a Grandmother who enjoyed being a part of ball games, music concerts, plays, special days at school, a Mamaw Nikki that put the GREAT in Great Grandmother and loved playing with her grandsons, even allowing them to play with sand inside! The heart of her family, the keeper of secrets, the place you went to for advice, comfort and unconditional love. Jan had a positivity and light about her that surrounded us all in warmth whenever she was near.
She was the oldest of an inseparable group of 4, the Sisters, the Greats, and the favorite of all! Jan was an aunt, cousin, friend and confidant to many. She had fierce determination and will power and “healed” herself more than once. Jan was THAT person, the one we all need in our life, the one person that you can always count on for advice, compassion and understanding. She always said that she was “Switzerland”, which kept her out of trouble and proved how wise she was.
Entrusted to carry on her light, love and positivity are Tom who faithfully remained by Janet’s side as her illness progressed; sons, Mark (Jessica) and Coray (Sheri) Salyer; grandchildren, Katie (Tanner), Hannah, Jake, Luke, Dakota and Amber Salyer; great grandchildren, Easton and Emeric Allen; brothers, Allen and David Doty; sisters, Linda (Denvis) Earls, Beverly (Keith) Schmidt, and Marcia (Edward) Nantz; cousins that were more like sisters, Toni, Fran, Barb and Patty; special niece, Jenny and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jan was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Teresa (Snively) Doty; niece, Lisa Ann Schmidt in 1979; great niece, Hannah Earls in 2002 and grandson, Jonathan Salyer in 1990.
